I think you have provided adequate information, but the fix may not be simple without direct access to the hardware, and resources to study it.
Possibly HP could also help here if they have Linux engineers aiming to add support for their laptops. But often adding support is done by users themselves (if willing to study, learn to contribute the fix etc) unless there is a contract between a venndor and the Linux company, like for example Lenovo and Dell have. But I believe HP does have their own desktop Linux efforts of sorts as well. Anyway, hopefully there will be a fix eventually for you.
