This affects me too! Thanks for mentioning the LightDM workaround. I had hold down the Shift key to boot into recovery mode, then run "dhclient eth0" to get network connectivity, then run "apt install lightdm" to install LightDM then in the prompt select LightDM as the default login manager. If LightDM is already installed, you can run "dpkg-reconfigure lightdm".
To start troubleshooting the issue you can run "journalctl /usr/sbin/gdm3" but I didn't find anything interesting. You can also use the GNOME Logs application. I found that unix_chkpwd reports "could not obtain user info (gdm- greeter)" which might be a hint. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2121069 Title: Login screen does not show To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/2121069/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
