I did not have time to look into this further, and I have other bugs I need to fix sooner, so this will be skipped for the upcoming SRU.
In particular, I really just need a *reliable* way to reproduce the issue, so that we can be sure the patch works as expected. I was able to trigger the issue once (very lucky, I guess), and not again since then.
