To be clear, are you saying this happens specifically when using your
own DNS server (pihole or something maybe)? Does the issue go away if
you make 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 the upstream DNS server? I.e.,

$ resolvectl dns <link> 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8

In any case, it would be helpful to see the debug logs when this is
happening. Specifically, can you please do:

$ resolvectl flush-caches
$ resolvectl log-level debug
$ resolvectl query google.com
$ journalctl -u systemd-resolved --since "10s ago" > resolve.log

and share the result?
