Building packages with same CFLAGS makes sense for binaries running in the same system. So for applications it is good.
But here we are talking about firmware or bootloader, which is **not** running on Ubuntu. It is only compiled there, and then runs on bare metal, or in an emulator which should emulate bare metal. Trying to make the argument that everything should be using dpkg- buildflags would then also extend to any other distro, or release of Microsoft Windows, running inside an emulator on top of Ubuntu. I do hope that this steems from some misunderstanding of what iPXE is and how it is used. It could be argued that the tools built and then used during the build process should use modified CFLAGS, but does it really make sense to care about that for a tool that runs once during the build process and is then thrown away? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2121439 Title: Disable custom CFLAGS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ipxe/+bug/2121439/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
