I did several investigation in a different bug for s390: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/2119291 (the same than https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk4/+bug/2119291 ). Here, some tests timed out. The problem seems to be that, when using OpenGL/Vulkan backends, the GtkWidgetPaintable object never triggers the "invalidate-contents" signal, so the test waits forever. Using the Cairo backend, instead, makes it work fine. The problem seems to be in the last version of Mesa.
