Binary package hint: tar
GNU tar reports "This does not appear to be a tar archive" when
attempting to list or restore (tar tvf or tar xvf) from a tape archive
created by the same version of tar. Verification with tar cvWf works
correcty however.
An older version of tar (on Damn Small Linux or RHEL 3) is able to
successfully list/restore these archives.
Command used to create archives:
tar cvWb 64 -f /dev/st0 /work
Command used to list archives:
tar tvb 64 -f /dev/st0
Command used to restore archives:
tar xvb 64 -f /dev/st0
