Description:
On my ASUS ZenBook Pro 15 UX535L, the integrated ScreenPad touch controller
(ELAN9008, USB ID 04F3:2DF1) is detected by the kernel as an I²C HID device,
but it does not provide usable pointer input.
The device shows up in dmesg and libinput list-devices as a touchscreen, but
moving a finger on the pad does not move the cursor. The ScreenPad display
itself works as a secondary monitor, but the touch layer is not functional as a
trackpad.

System Info:
Laptop Model: ASUS ZenBook Pro 15 UX535L;
Kernel Version: 6.14.0-29-generic (Kubuntu);
Distro: Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS;
libinput Version: 1.25.0;
Session: KDE Plasma (Wayland).

Hardware IDs:

From dmesg:
i2c_hid_acpi i2c-ELAN9008:00: i2c_hid_get_input: IRQ triggered but there's no
data
input: ELAN9008:00 04F3:2DF1 Touchscreen as
/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:15.2/i2c_designware.2/i2c-2/i2c-ELAN9008:00/0018:04F3:2DF1.0001/input/input4
hid-multitouch 0018:04F3:2DF1.0001: input,hidraw0: I2C HID v1.00 Device
[ELAN9008:00 04F3:2DF1] on i2c-ELAN9008:00

From libinput list-devices:
Device:           ELAN9008:00 04F3:2DF1
Kernel:           /dev/input/event4
Size:             351x199mm
Capabilities:     touch

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Boot Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS with kernel 6.14.0-29-generic;
2.Run xinput list → device does not appear as a pointer;
3.Run libinput list-devices → ELAN9008 device appears, but only as a “touch”
device, not a pointer;
4.Attempt to use ScreenPad as trackpad → no cursor movement.

Expected Result:
The ELAN9008 touch controller should be recognized as a touchpad/trackpad, not
only as a generic touchscreen.
Moving a finger should move the cursor, as under Windows with Asus’ driver.

Actual Result:
Device initializes but only shows up as a touchscreen input device.
Cursor does not move when touching the ScreenPad surface.

Additional note:
The ScreenPad display works correctly as a secondary monitor.

Request:
Please add support/quirks for ELAN9008 (04F3:2DF1) so that the ScreenPad touch
controller can function as a proper touchpad under Linux.
