After the above rtx.scenedb.plugin messages there was a long 4 minute
delay as something timed out. During that period the application was
frozen. Then it came to life again.
I speculate that the nvidia-580 driver is loaded and kind of working.
It's still installed because my attempt to replace it with the correct
driver (nvidia-580-open driver) failed.
4 minute time-out hangs in random places is still a bug. Something is wrong. We
both agree that I should be running the nvidia-580-open driver, but it won't
install do to the installation error reported in the first section of this
report.
