Public bug reported:
Hi,
I tried both default 6.8 and linux-image-generic-hwe-24.04 kernels.
This is Thinkbook G7 ARP with Ryzen CPU.
Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS
Going to hibernate seems fine, but there's a compete and total hang/halt during
resume from hibernate (while still at kernel level part).
I.e. it hangs very early in boot process.
It loads 100% of the image and immediately completely hangs.
Does not react to even Ctrl+Alt+Del.
Reacts only to holding power button for a long time for hard reset.
I tried to find dmesg logs, but likely due to hard reset there's no logs stored
when I do resume with HWE 6.14 kernel.
This is fixed in 6.16.7-061607-generic from mainline (I tried it and resume
from hibernate goes well).
Is it possible to port the fix from 6.16.7 to current HWE kernel?
I don't know about specific kernel commits.
Resume is from LUKS+BTRFS partition and NVME drive.
linux-image-generic-hwe-24.04:
Installed: 6.14.0-29.29~24.04.1
expected to happen: resume from hibernate should not hang/halt
This tool says linux-image-generic-hwe-24.04 package "does not exist in
Ubuntu", so I had to choose a similar package.
Thank you.
