Yes, that's probably where my false memory originated from.

in the Affects section of this report). Scrolling-while-dragging was
never a feature to begin with. It seems there are currently some
limitations for this to become a GNOME-Wayland feature in the near
future.

  While dragging files or folders, scrolling doesn’t work in Ubuntu
  25.04 (Nautilus 48.0). This prevents moving items into deeper
