Public bug reported: libadwaita latest upstream stable version is not included in Ubuntu questing beta, since the RC update required some patch updates that were not ready and we wanted to wait for the upstream final version being released, that happened just few days ago.
libadwaita 1.8.0 is a critical component of GNOME 49, and while all the applications we care about only require 1.8.0~beta at the date, it's not wise to ship what upstream considers a not-yet-stable version in ubuntu 25.10. The .rc and final versions only contain main bug fixes: - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libadwaita/blob/1.8.0/NEWS - No new symbol is added to the library The details of the changes are in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libadwaita/-/compare/1.8.beta...1.8.0?from_project_id=14079?format=patch Not being updated with upstream also implies that future potential SRUs will be harder to do for this cycle. ** Affects: libadwaita-1 (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Marco Trevisan (Treviño) (3v1n0) Status: Triaged ** Tags: upgrade-software-version -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2123885 Title: Update to 1.8.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libadwaita-1/+bug/2123885/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
