Hey, glad you found a satisfactory solution, just want to elaborate on my
previous comment.

It is stable/core24, from this branch[1]. It can be installed by running the
previously given command even though the Snap Store does not expose such
channels for the end-users. If Firefox is already installed, it can be used by
running

  snap refresh --channel stable/core24 firefox

The reason this might have solved your problem is because in the 22.04 base,
which Firefox stable uses, PCSC-Lite is on version 1.9.5, whereas in 24.04
there it is 2.0.3. A major version bump is normally, well, major, so I'm
guessing (I didn't go through its change log) that it would solve the issue as
well.
