Public bug reported:

The sticky keys "locked" state does not function correctly on KDE
Wayland.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install an affected release, such as Kubuntu 25.10 beta
2. Log into a Plasma (Wayland) session
3. Configure Sticky Keys enabled, plus Lock Sticky Keys. (I use it WITHOUT any
other options, if this turns out to be relevant.)
4. Open any text input, such as the Firefox location bar or Konsole
5. Press and release keys in sequence (one at a time): shift, shift, a, -, b,
shift, x.

Observed result: "a-bx" entered. One MAY also observe that the Lock
Keys Status in the tray reflects the result, moving from initially not
shown, to "Shift key latched" after one press, and back to not shown (!)
after the second Shift key press.

Expected result: "A_Bx" entered. Lock Keys Status should show "Shift
key locked" for the entire duration between the second and third Shift
key presses.

Also note that the third press of the Shift key is unlocking the
modifier internally, somewhere. If locking didn't work, that would be
interpreted as a second latch event, and a capital X would be the
result.

I have also reported this upstream as
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=509714 (although I didn't track
down a specific component before doing so.)
