I'm doing a unity-settings-daemon upload to fix this issue. I tried to
do the minimal changes to fix this issue. Unfortunately, the package was
initially unbuildable so I had to fix the build too.

I did install the unity-settings-daemon binaries I built locally onto
today's Ubuntu Unity 25.10 daily ISO. I found Unity difficult to use in
my preferred VM app, GNOME Boxes, (uses qemu) as the mouse cursor was
not aligned at all with where the mouse cursor was displayed. Anyway, I
verified that things appeared to work just as well after rebooting. I
enabled desktop sharing (uses vino behind the scenes) and it looked like
it was enabled correctly. desktop sharing is one of the plugins provided
by unity-settings-daemon.
