Hello Robie, and thank you for your answer, The request originally comes from Nvidia. They deliver linux-only desktop PCs now, based on Ubuntu 24.04 and the -nvidia kernel.
The plan is indeed that these machines will be able to upgrade to 26.04, but they are still asking to have the feature before that, considering it will happen in 6 months. I know that other OEMs (Dell, ...) are also interested. I heard that the Ubuntu OEM team was exploring exception paths for these packages, to deliver them in the OEM archives. I can retrieve more information if you are interested. But I think that, if the standard SRU process can be done, the whole thing will be both safer and better maintained for anyone. If we are 100% sure that regressions can be avoided, that is. If you have concerns about regressions, I'd be happy to strengthen the test plan. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2117497 Title: No Wifi 7 MLO support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/2117497/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
