Yes the kernel graphics device is missing according to the Xorg logs:

  open /dev/dri/card0: No such file or directory

and the kernel log never mentions trying to load i915 at all.

This can happen if the 'linux-modules-extra-*' package is not installed
so please run:

  dpkg -l > packages.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.
