Public bug reported:

On a clean install of Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, the icons on the Desktop
(folders and files) stop responding to left and right click.

Both left and right click on the icons produce the same effect as in any
other point of the Desktop on which icons are not present - left click
does nothing, right click opens the normal Desktop context menu.

The same folders and files are accessible and respond normally in
Nautilus, excluding any issue with the storage devices.

The issue doesn't occur immediately, but at the moment I haven't been
able to determine what specific action might have caused.

A clean reinstall temporarily solved the problem, but it happened again
shortly after in the same way.

Logging in again doesn't change the behavior, nor does rebooting the
system.
