I also get this error when connecting a Dell WD19TB dock to a Dell XPS 9700 laptop. People have been complaining about compatibility between these two devices on Linux for as long as the XPS 9700 has existed, the bring-up of the dock's USB controller has always been very flakey for me. Sometimes need to disconnect and reconnect several times, or reboot the machine with the dock connected, or power cycle the dock.
I recently read a thread online which suggested that the problem can be solved by plugging the dock into some other device (e.g. an Android phone) and then plugging it back into the laptop. For me the dock always consistently connects to my Pixel 9 Pro. But reconnecting it to the laptop doesn't seem any more or less flaky after this step has been taken. I don't think it's an ubuntu bug, I think it is upstream, but I am aware that some machines with identical hardware and the name Precision 5750 were shipped with Ubuntu preinstalled and that there might be some relationship between Canonical and Dell. If you have someone who could take a look at these logs and make a suggestion as to what's going wrong that'd be very helpful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2118939 Title: dmesg: call trace To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2118939/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
