Yeah, that will work. It suggests a problem with /etc/default/grub file.
Have you altered the /etc/default/grub file? Do you use grub customizer?

"grub-mkconfig: 31: /etc/default/grub: add: not found"

If you cannot figure it out, maybe attach /etc/default/grub (Text,
please. There's no need to convert it to a pdf).
