If you are using Ubuntu 25.04/Plucky, then you should not have the Nvidia 550
driver installed. The 550 driver was transitioned to 560 (bug 2083677) and
that was later transitioned to 570 (bug 2093261).
You can remove the 550 driver and install 570 or 580
sudo apt purge *550*
sudo apt install nvidia-driver-570 nvidia-dkms-570
OR
sudo apt install nvidia-driver-580 nvidia-dkms-580
