Enabling debug output, I can see the following when copying ようこそ to the
clipboard:
```
Oct 06 09:55:41 mavi-bee-vm-base spice-vdagentd[6868]: 0x612a1f9d1c40 received
clipboard grab, arg1: 1, arg2: 0, size 4
Oct 06 09:55:41 mavi-bee-vm-base spice-vdagentd[6868]: 0x612a1f9d1c40 received
clipboard grab, arg1: 0, arg2: 0, size 4
Oct 06 09:55:41 mavi-bee-vm-base spice-vdagentd[6868]: 0x612a1f9d1c40 sent
clipboard request, arg1: 0, arg2: 1, size 0
Oct 06 09:55:41 mavi-bee-vm-base spice-vdagentd[6868]: 0x612a1f9d1c40 received
clipboard data, arg1: 0, arg2: 1, size 24
```
The 'size 24' matches the size of "ようこそ" exactly,
suggesting that spice-vdagent already receives the escaped string from Wayland.

Adding a note: the host OS is not at fault: I have a Windows 11 VM
running, and copying japanese text from that works correctly.
