apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected dist-upgrade questing
** Description changed: 1) Ubuntu Version: MATE 25.04 -> 25.10 2) N/A? 3) What was expected: a smooth upgrade. 4) When upgrading to Quokka with MATE Desktop Environment from 25.04 on a Steam Deck, all the packages referring to X11 are removed during the process. As a result, this breaks lightdm, and only console sessions are possible. Also, xinput is also removed, so I had a script reconfiguring the touchscreen that broke. The workarounds: sudo apt install lightdm sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm sudo shutdown -r now This does NOT happen with devices whose GPU is NVidia-branded. + --- + ProblemType: Bug + ApportVersion: 2.33.1-0ubuntu3 + Architecture: amd64 + CasperMD5CheckResult: pass + CrashDB: ubuntu + CurrentDesktop: MATE + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 25.10 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2023-11-21 (692 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-MATE 23.04 "Lunar Lobster" - Release amd64 (20230415) + Package: ubuntu-release-upgrader (not installed) + ProcEnviron: + LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 + PATH=(custom, no user) + SHELL=/bin/bash + TERM=xterm-256color + XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.17.0-5.5-generic 6.17.0-rc7 + Tags: questing dist-upgrade + Uname: Linux 6.17.0-5-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to questing on 2025-10-10 (3 days ago) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo users + VarLogDistupgradeXorgFixuplog: + INFO:root:/usr/bin/do-release-upgrade running + INFO:root:No xorg.conf, exiting + _MarkForUpload: True ** Attachment added: "CrashReports.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2127248/+attachment/5917403/+files/CrashReports.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2127248 Title: Upgrade to Quokka removes X.org packages with MATE on Steam Deck To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/2127248/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
