** Description changed: Ubuntu 22.04, 5.15.0-156-generic, x86. Bug affects both virtual and bare metal machines. After upgrading to 5.15.0-156-generic, server seems to randomly end up in a cpu lock, where it becomes completely unresonposible, where only a power cycle will unfreeze it. vmware shows 100% cpu load, no/minimal memory usage, and sometimes logs - like these; + like these can be seen in console; - 1941.675652] [drm:drm_crtc_commit_wait [drm]] *ERROR* flip_done timed out + 1941.675652] [drm:drm_crtc_commit_wait [drm]] *ERROR* flip_done timed out [ 1941.676241] [drm:drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_dependencies [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR* [PLANE:34:plan e-0] commit wait timed out [ 1951.915262] [drm:drm_crtc_commit_wait [drm]] *ERROR* flip_done timed out [ 1951.916007] [drm:drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_dependencies [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR* [CRTC:38:crtc- 0] commit wait timed out [ 1960.237813] watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 1810s! Where login is possible, system works great until apt-get is ran, and then it freezes completely. For me apt-get update is what is actually freezing the system. Ticket is similar to #2125707, but this has incorrect title. Issue was experienced on ~30 servers in various enviroments (also airgapped) both physical and virtual. All on x86.
