Hi Ponnuvel, thank you for addressing my remarks from comment #2! Unfortunately, Ubuntu 25.10 is in final freeze by now, so we'll need to make this an SRU.
Could you please modify the bug description according to the corresponding template? https://documentation.ubuntu.com/sru/en/latest/reference/bug-template/ – we would need this anyway to get the change landed in 24.04 LTS eventually. Also I have one open question left: In the patch you mention "Origin: upstream" without giving a specific reference. Was this patch discussed and/or discussed with the upstream community? Can you please point us to the original upstream changes? I see you set "Forwarded: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1101371" – Should Debian be considered as the upstream of libnss-db? It seems to be an orphaned package in Debian, owned by the QA team and there has been no reaction so far on this patch. All of this unclarity about the upstream situation makes me a bit hesitant to upload this patch into the Ubuntu packages. Would you be able to point us to the upstream reference of this patch, or start a discussion with upstream (not Debian, but the actual upstream libnss-db project) about it, before introducing it in downstream distributions? It seems to be a generally useful change that others might want to have, too! ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #1101371 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1101371 ** Changed in: libnss-db (Ubuntu Questing) Status: In Progress => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2121543 Title: [SRU] Poor performance of libnss-db on large db files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnss-db/+bug/2121543/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
