After additional testing with nvidia-settings (PowerMizer) and a simple GPU load (glxgears), I confirmed that the PCIe link speed is dynamic:
- Gen1 (2.5 GT/s) while the GPU is idle, - Gen4 (up to 32 GT/s) once the GPU is under load. So the behavior I reported is not a regression, but the expected power- saving feature of the NVIDIA driver. Many thanks for your quick help and clarifications.
