In case anyone lands here because of the same issue, this was ASUS
response:

The technical team would like to confirm that ASUS has not officially
announced support for Linux software on this device. Therefore, any
issues that may arise are presumed to be related to the Linux software
itself.

So I guess we have to live with it.
Please do post if you find a suitable solution or workaround.
