BTW,
I also booted from a 25.10 Kubuntu image ("Try Kubuntu"). Same effect:
- I have to set the nomodeset kernel option, otherwise the screen remains black
aber booting
- Resolution limited to 800x600 (i.e. 600x800 rotated)
