Public bug reported:
Title: GNOME Shell fails to start in RealVNC sessions after Mesa
25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.2 update
Description:
After updating Mesa from 25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 to 25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.2,
GNOME Shell no longer starts in RealVNC virtual mode sessions.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install RealVNC Server in virtual mode (SystemXorg=1)
2. Update Mesa to 25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.2
3. Connect via VNC client
4. GNOME session fails with "gnome-session-check-accelerated: GL Helper exited
with code 512"
Expected: GNOME Shell starts with llvmpipe software rendering
Actual: gnome-session-failed starts, showing error dialog
Workaround: Downgrade to Mesa 25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 or use GNOME
Flashback
System: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Mesa version (broken): 25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.2
Mesa version (working): 25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
