I'm having this issue also in linux-lite7-kde, but my wifi manager is
working fine in kubuntu24.04-3. Could this be a recent update problem or
a firmware module not loading in /etc/modprobe.d My logs dont show any
fallover. I only see firmware is not loaded for wifi when I click onthe
wireless icon.

I didnt not have this issue before because firmware updates were disabled by
blacklist.conf has
>blacklist intel
>blacklist microocode

now there is a new automatic firmware daeon runing "firmware-update" I've no
idea how to refresh it or disable it.
I like to make a firmware backup of my current drivers and then restore them if
needed.

Can anyone suggest a working method as microcode updates appear to be
forced in synaptic -software-manager?
