Hi Christopher!

After reading through the upstream discussion, I'm torn about re-
enabling support for PVSCSI in Ubuntu (incl. 26.04 LTS), which needs to
be supported until at least 2036...

https://edk2.groups.io/g/devel/topic/92635541

The upstream maintainer's [Gerd] stance is the following:
"If debian[/ubuntu] is fine with shipping unmaintained software to its users you
can flip the config switches of course, at least as long as the drivers
are still in the tree. The drivers are at risk of being removed though
in case we don't find a new maintainer within a year or two."

There was no update to the codebase in 2+ years:
- https://github.com/tianocore/edk2/commits/master/OvmfPkg/PvScsiDxe

Since then, there was a discussion between James Bottomley and Ard
Biesheuvel about taking over maintenance of this code:

"How important is keeping them alive? I can volunteer to "maintain"
them which I anticipate won't be much effort (plus I'm used to looking
after obsolete SCSI equipment). The hardware is obsolete, so the
mechanics of their emulation isn't going to change, the only potential
risk is changes in the guest to host transmission layer that breaks
something. On the other hand, I've got to say I use virtio-scsi in all
my VM testing environments, so the maintenance will likely only be
reacting when someone else reports a problem."

But nobody ended up in Maintainers.txt... Instead, we now have Aaron
Young as a reviewer:
https://github.com/tianocore/edk2/commit/2cd9d5f6fa710e9a8ee810212081f86702114d2f
– but we still don't have a maintainer.

Would you mind elaborating a bit more on your usecase and why you'd want to
build upon such supposedly "obsolete equipment"?
