Public bug reported:
[ Impact ]
* The bug is a confusing banner shown in the `Trash` section in nautilus. The
banner is active and conveys that files are there to be removed even when
the trash is empty.
* Our partner nvidia has reported this bug and sees this as a UX
problem.
[ Test Plan ]
* Visit `Trash` on your system. There you have now two main scenarios:
- Trash is empty: The banner on top suggests that you can remove files.
Clicking on it triggers a dialog box to confirm. The whole operation
does
nothing.
- Trash has files in it: Banner shows the option to remove trash and
clicking on it and confirming does empty the trash. Now you are at the
`Trash is empty` state.
* With the patch applied, visiting an empty `Trash` does not show the banner.
If files are in the trash, the banner becomes active.
[ Where problems could occur ]
* If the monitoring of `Trash` does fail, the banner could show up even if not
intended or being hidden. In the case of it being hidden, users are still
left with the option to delete files from `Trash` by rightclick.
[ Other Info ]
* This has been merged upstream with
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/merge_requests/1633 .
* This patch/fix is already present in plucky and newer.
