Public bug reported:
🐞 Title:
Bluetooth not working after updates in Xubuntu 22.04 (Intel 8087:0a2b –
“Adapter is None”)
💬 Description:
After recent updates, Bluetooth stopped working on several laptops running
Xubuntu 22.04.
The issue appears on different kernel versions (6.8.x, 6.5.x, 5.19.x), so it
seems to be related to a regression in bluez or linux-firmware.
🔹 Symptoms:
Blueman shows warnings:
WARNING DiscvManager:119 update_menuitems: warning: Adapter is None
bluetoothctl returns:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.InvalidArgs: Unknown action
‘Activate’
Bluetooth service appears active, but no adapters are found.
rfkill shows the device is not blocked:
2: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
The device is visible in lsusb:
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 8087:0a2b Intel Corp. Bluetooth wireless
interface
Kernel logs (dmesg) show:
Bluetooth: hci0: Reading supported features failed (-16)
Bluetooth: hci0: Error reading debug features
Bluetooth: hci0: HCI LE Coded PHY feature bit is set, but its usage is not
supported.
🔹 What has been tried:
Reinstalling firmware:
sudo apt install --reinstall linux-firmware
Restarting Bluetooth services (bluetooth, blueman-applet)
Disabling autosuspend via /etc/modprobe.d/btusb.conf
(options btusb enable_autosuspend=n)
Testing on multiple kernels: 6.8.x, 6.5.x, 5.19.x, and even realtime
versions
Clean Xubuntu 22.04 installations on two different laptops — same
issue.
🔹 Hardware:
Intel Bluetooth adapter: 8087:0a2b
(common with Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 / 8260)
Kernel: 6.8.1-1015-realtime
System: Xubuntu 22.04 LTS (fully updated)
Package versions:
bluez: 5.64 or newer
linux-firmware: 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.19
🔹 Notes:
Bluetooth worked flawlessly on earlier versions of Xubuntu (kernel 5.15 and
below).
This appears to be a regression affecting Intel Bluetooth chips in current
firmware or BlueZ stack.
Please investigate and include a fix in future updates of linux-firmware
or bluez.
