Public bug reported:
My main OS Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is on the nvme also in a small ext4 partition and
the remainder is an OpenZFS partition. I always have a second OS on the HDD as
back up and to try-out e.g a new Ubuntu release.
I have a HDD with 4 partitions in the following sequence on the HDD: boot;
ext4; zfs and zfs. The number in the list are the partition numbers. See also
the screenshot.
1. boot related 1 MB
4. ext4 38GB
2. OpenZFS 1TB
3. OpenZFS 968GB
The installer refuses to install Ubuntu in the second physical partition
number 4. Even in a manual install, it simply does not see the
partitions. It wants to overwrite the whole 2 TB disk.
From the screenshot you can see that I tried with an empty ext4
partition and with the content from this year with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
Ubuntu 24.04 worked for 1.5 years with this partition table.
I wanted to install 25.10, but it failed, so I tried 25.04 and 26.04
dev.ed. all failed. They never showed in the installer the partitions of
the HDD correctly.
