Public bug reported:
fter a recent automatic update, my system fails to boot to the graphical
login screen (GDM) and only shows a black screen.
Here are the key details of the issue:
* This failure happens on both kernel 5.15.0-160-generic and the new
5.15.0-161-generic.
* The system boots and works **perfectly** if I manually select the older
5.15.0-157-generic kernel from the GRUB menu.
* When I checked the logs from the failed boot (-b -1), I found that the
graphics driver (amdgpu) loads, but the moment gnome-shell starts, the log is
spammed with this repeating error:
`Failed to post KMS update: drmModeAtomicCommit: Invalid argument`
This appears to be a kernel regression in the amdgpu driver that was
introduced after 5.15.0-157. The attached logs should contain all the
relevant hardware information.
