Public bug reported:
SRU Justification:
[Impact]
Focal linux-gcp-tcpx is going EOS at the end of 2025. It will experience
its last crank during the 2025.10.13 SRU cycle. When cranking the
kernel, it was discovered that upstream patch b03f15c0192b ("gve: Fix
stuck TX queue for DQ queue format") came in via a stable update. This
presented a significant merge conflict with existing SAUCE patches that
were added previously to address the issue.
[Fix]
In order to prevent the introduction of any serious issues with the
kernel, the upstream patch b03f15c0192b ("gve: Fix stuck TX queue for DQ
queue format") was manually reverted during cranking to avoid the merge
conflict. This bug serves as documentation for the choice of reverting
the upstream commit to perform the last crank of this kernel.
[Test Plan]
The usual compile testing will be performed during the crank. With the
upstream commit reverted, all of the other commits applied cleanly.
[Where problems could occur]
The revert was performed in order to avoid introducing a regression
during conflict resolution. All other commits then applied cleanly. The
likelihood of introducing other issues is minimal.
