After investigation with AI assistance, i found that the problem was: ii packagekit 1.1.13-2ubuntu1.1 ii packagekit-tools 1.1.13-2ubuntu1.1 ii gstreamer1.0-packagekit 1.1.13-2ubuntu1.1
Had to remove them manually: sudo apt remove packagekit packagekit-tools gstreamer1.0-packagekit libpackagekit-glib2-18 Then: sudo apt --fix-broken install sudo apt autoremove And try again with the update: sudo do-release-upgrade This solved the issue that i was getting and the update to Ubuntu 22.04 proceeded till completed. But problems did not finished. After the restart, i had issues with GUI not starting. When trying to reinstall sudo apt install --reinstall gdm3 ubuntu-desktop gnome-shell xorg I got: Some package could not be installed The following package have unmet dependency Gstreamer1.0-pipewire : depends pipewire (=0.3.48-1ubuntu3) but 1.0.7.3 ubuntu20.04 is to be installed Depends: libpipewure-0.3-0 (= 0.3.48-1ububtu3) but 1.0.7-3ubuntu20.04 is to be installed Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages Meaning that there were still some old ubuntu20.04 packages installed. I solved this problem by manually removing all old packages: sudo apt remove pipewire libpipewire-0.3-0 gstreamer1.0-pipewire libspa-0.2-modules After the next restart the GUI worked perfectly. I could also update the system to Ubuntu24.04 with no issues. The only last issues happened after that with snap store: cannot refresh "snap-store": snap "snap-store" has running apps (ubuntu-software), pids: 3578 I had to kill the process: kill -9 3578 Then update snap: sudo snap refresh snap-store -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2131162 Title: Upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 failed for An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/2131162/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
