Public bug reported: When multiple high bandwidth sinks are connected (such as 3 high resolution monitors connected to a USB4 dock) there may be a need to use different colorspaces to accomplish a picture on the displays.
This role can be done by a compositor, but in practice mutter doesn't do it. Instead changes have been made in amdgpu that can allow progressively falling back through these combinations if the sink supports it. - RGB - YUV422 8bpc (bandwidth efficient) - YUV422 6bpc (reduced color depth) - YUV420 (last resort) This should allow more cases to work properly out of the box. https://git.kernel.org/torvalds/c/5e76bc677cb7c https://git.kernel.org/torvalds/c/db291ed1732e0 ** Affects: linux-oem-6.17 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2131882 Title: Multiple high bandwidth sinks may fail validation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-oem-6.17/+bug/2131882/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
