Hello Christian, as a former live migration developer and maintainer for both Qemu upstream and for RHEL, I understand the situation you're in - and I don't want to muddy the waters without knowing your support story for 24.04 LTS; but I can offer some insight into how these issues were resolved in both RHEL and upstream: create a new machine type that always picks up the original fix for new launches. And for migration compatibility, continue using the older machine type at launch.
For RHEL, we created machine types based on RHEL releases (e.g. rhel-6.1-pc, rhel-6.2-pc, etc.). A VM launched with rhel-6.2-pc was not able to be migrated to 6.1 in case of such breaking changes; however, if we wanted to ensure bug-for-bug compat, we would launch VMs with the 6.1 machine type even on RHEL 6.2+. Hope that helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2131822 Title: Known Windows 11 KVM Issue AMD KMODE Exception To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/2131822/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
