Looking into this for the cloud kernels. But I do wonder why this wasn't considered for Plucky or Questing first? Without looking into the details too much, it would seem that those releases, while newer, would lack this functionality. We try to ensure that newer releases don't lose features, so is there a reason that this should not be in those releases? Moving the fix into those newer releases will likely cascade the fix down to the Noble HWE cloud kernels as well.
