Public bug reported:

Ubuntu release 25.10
Samba 2:4.22.3+dfsg-4ubuntu2.2

After upgrading to Questing my "Time Machine" backup from MacOX laptop
to Ubuntu file-server stopped working.

After lots of hunting around, it turns out to be down to the removal of
the fruit:posix_rename flag to address a problem experienced by Windows
clients, that had an unanticipated knock-on effect of killing all time
machine backups -

Version 4.23.2 fixes the issue -

The samba bug tracker lists it here -

It would be great if Ubuntu could move to the newer package version ASAP to
address the problem.
