yrogge: Could you write down the minimal steps required to replicate the
font setup that reproduces this issue? I tried to download a font into
/usr/local, symlink it into ~/.local/share/fonts/, set it as the default
font in gnome-tweaks, and opened the image you linked

but I still couldn't reproduce the failure that way.
