Public bug reported:
Honestly, I can't personally confirm all the technical details, but after an
AI-assisted debugging session, the problem was fixed by running:
```
sudo apt install libglib2.0-0t64=2.80.0-6ubuntu3.4
libglib2.0-bin=2.80.0-6ubuntu3.4 libglib2.0-data=2.80.0-6ubuntu3.4
gir1.2-glib-2.0=2.80.0-6ubuntu3.4
```
So the AI-suggested report is:
"glib2.0 2.80.0-6ubuntu3.5 breaks xdg-desktop-portal backend selection"
Upgrading from 2.80.0-6ubuntu3.4 to 6ubuntu3.5 causes xdg-desktop-portal to
fall back to gtk.portal instead of using gnome.portal
The portal logs show "Choosing gtk.portal for ... as a last-resort fallback"
instead of activating xdg-desktop-portal-gnome
Downgrading to 6ubuntu3.4 fixes the issue
Likely caused by the "arg0 matching" patch (LP: #2119581)
This breaks dark mode for libadwaita apps (Nautilus, GNOME Software) since the
GTK portal doesn't properly communicate color scheme preferences
** Affects: glib2.0 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
