** Description changed: [SRU] 2.73: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/2132084 [ Impact ] snapctl version is required, but not available. [ Test Plan ] - 1. Reproduce with snapd snap < 2.73 + 1. Reproduce with snapd deb < 2.73 New feature, not required - 2. Prove fixed with snapd snap 2.73 + 2. Prove fixed with snapd deb 2.73 Sufficiently covered by automated spread test that ran in release preperation PR. See: https://github.com/canonical/snapd/pull/16014/files#diff-4b2b5602499c3f3e6c623b3fe7e3a101176675b332a254883fd940fba6baa8cdR49 ---original--- When running on Ubuntu Core it is sometimes desired that applications can check for the currently running snapd version, this is currently only possible through the snapd-control interface which is rather overkill to grant for such a simple query. While snapctl does allow me to query quite a bunch of system wider defaults like "system-mode" and even allows me to reboot the machine (if the reboot interface is granted alongside), it does not offer an equivalent to the "snap version" command. It would be nice if we could have "snapctl version" as a feature in snapctl by default.
