Hi Nathan, that's a great idea. I installed Weston and tested on it since it's supposed to be the reference implementation of Wayland. The issue does not appear on Weston, maximizing the chromium window scales normally as expected. Thus I believe we can conclude this is a GNOME issue?
I also tested this on an older ThinkPad T460 I have running the exact same version of Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS and the exact same version of Chromium 142.0.7444.175 snap. Under regular "Ubuntu" GNOME on Wayland, the same maximizing scaling issue appears. However, the issue does not appear on Weston. This mirrors exactly what I'm experiencing on the T14 Gen 3. It's important to note that the T460 has an integrated laptop monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080 at 60hz (compared to the T14 Gen 3 having a 1920x1200 at 60hz monitor) and the external monitor is the same old Samsung TV with a resolution of 1920x1080 at 60hz. The specs of the T460 in case it's useful are (from Settings -> About -> System Details): # System Details Report --- ## Report details - **Date generated:** 2025-12-10 14:24:26 ## Hardware Information: - **Hardware Model:** Lenovo ThinkPad T460 - **Memory:** 16.0 GiB - **Processor:** Intel® Core™ i5-6300U × 4 - **Graphics:** Intel® HD Graphics 520 (SKL GT2) - **Disk Capacity:** 256.1 GB ## Software Information: - **Firmware Version:** R06ET71W (1.45 ) - **OS Name:** Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS - **OS Build:** (null) - **OS Type:** 64-bit - **GNOME Version:** 46 - **Windowing System:** Wayland - **Kernel Version:** Linux 6.14.0-36-generic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2134312 Title: Chromium window zooming and distorting on external monitor on wayland Ubuntu 24.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/2134312/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
