Public bug reported:
In Ubuntu 25.10, on a Gmktec EVO-X2, the GL9755 SD Host Controller
Driver in Kernels 6.17.0-7 and 0-8 is causing system hangs. When an
UHS-I or UHS-II sd card is inserted into the systems built in card
reader, the files app does not reliably mount the SD card and is also
unable to eject it. Browsing the card file system for photos is also
unreliable and eventually causes the files app to stall and hang and
this leads to the system freezing hanging after a few minutes. I tried
Ubuntu 24.04.2 with Kernel 6.11.0-17 Generic #17-24.04.2-Ubuntu SMP
PREEMPT_DYNAMIC and this behavior does not occur leading me to believe
that GL9755 (Genesys Logic) SD Host Controller support is broken in the
latest signed kernels from canonical. Please fix this. On Ubuntu 25.10
with kernel 6.17.0-7 and .0-8 generic, some error messages I encountered
on running sudo dmesg |tail at terminal/bash upon sd card insertion are:
[ 404.107845] mmc0: Card is consuming too much power!
[ 405.174262] mmc0: card 0001 removed
[ 409.009658] mmc0: new UHS-II speed SDXC card at address 0001
[ 409.010333] mmcblk0: mmc0:0001 LX128 117 GiB
[ 409.011625] mmcblk0: p1
upon browsing the SD card file system and running dmesg | tail during a
stall/hang, the following output was seen:
[ 577.384102] mmc0: sdhci: ADMA Err: 0x00000000 | ADMA Ptr: 0x00000000ffffe220

[ 577.384124] mmc0: sdhci: ============================================
Please fix this in upcoming Kernel patches or releases as my built in SD
card reader is unusable with the current state and will hang the system
when usage is attempted. Thank you.
