Public bug reported:
On the 26.04 development version, gdm3 doesn't start.
I upgraded from 25.10 to 26.04 development version with do-release-upgrade -d .
Installing lightdm is a workaround.
Tried:
- apt install ubuntu-desktop
- dpkg-reconfigure gdm3
- apt install --reinstall gdm3
all to no avail.
The service can be started after removal but when typing gdm3 in a recovery
shell nothing happens.
Caps lock still responds but I cannot switch to a shell.
works ok with lightdm but message about no lock screen and cannot remove
gdm3 because a dependency on ubuntu-desktop ( and -minimal).
This is a Thinkpad with 11th gen intel.
