I did some reading up on the ambient light sensor and LCD backlight control in Linux and found out the following:
1. The ambient light sensor is present: > cat sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0/name > acpi-als 2. watch cat sys/bus/iio/devices/iio.device0/in_illuminance_raw shows changing values as expected 3. The LCD backlight can be controlled with F1 and F2 4. The LCD backlight can be controlled from the quick settings 5. The LCD backlight can be controlled with the debian package brightnessctl So what's happening is that the "Automatic Screen Brightness", when toggled on in the power settings, has no apparent effect on the LCD brightness even if the ALS is working fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2131555 Title: [Macbook Pro 11,5] Ambient Light sensor regression To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2131555/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
