I did some reading up on the ambient light sensor and LCD backlight
control in Linux and found out the following:

1. The ambient light sensor is present:

> cat sys/bus/iio/devices/iio:device0/name
> acpi-als

2. watch cat sys/bus/iio/devices/iio.device0/in_illuminance_raw shows
changing values as expected

3. The LCD backlight can be controlled with F1 and F2

4. The LCD backlight can be controlled from the quick settings

5. The LCD backlight can be controlled with the debian package
brightnessctl

So what's happening is that the "Automatic Screen Brightness", when
toggled on in the power settings, has no apparent effect on the LCD
brightness even if the ALS is working fine.
