As the only active person on the Backporters team, I'll grant a **one
time exception** for this case.

The primary reasoning for this, after discussion with Nick and Vinit, is
that this does enable newer functionality and features.

However, the risk that "this may not work for older storage arrays"
still exists, and gives me slight pause on this.

Note that it is **on the requester of the backport** - that is, Vinit
Chacharia - to maintain the package in Backports and provide bugfixes
accordingly to that package, and handle any issues that arise.
