In recent versions of Ubuntu (24.10 and later) less allows one to hit Ctrl+X to make less leave the "follow forever" mode. With older versions you can still Ctrl+C and then quit with q, but instead of leaving it moves that job to the background, which may or may not be acceptable.
Given the existing behaviour is consolidated, I suspect distro-patching and SRU'ing that behaviour is not an option. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1874971 Title: less does not quit by q key before input ends, if it has not displayed full viewport of text To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/less/+bug/1874971/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
